For example, as you read this your pancreas has secreted insulin in response to your last meal.  Your digestive system produced 10 liters of digestive enzymes in the last 24 hours and your digestive tract replaces itself every 4 days. You carry around at least 3 pounds of bacteria which maintain the health of your digestive system.

Cells in your body are constantly regenerating and your immune system replaces its entire army every week, except when under vital attack, when its production capacity jumps to 200,000 new immune cells every minute. Neurotransmitters are firing, enabling the thought process, about 60,000 thoughts per day.

All this, and more, goes on without any conscious action on your part. However, you have a very important role to play—supplying your body with the correct amount of:
